Common Problems Restorative Dentistry Can Solve
Restorative dentistry is used to restore damaged teeth. Teeth typically become damaged due to tooth decay, gum disease, or traumatic dental injuries. In addition, restorative dentistry treatments like dentures can be used to replace missing teeth, preventing complications related to tooth loss and restoring your smile and your bite.
Fillings are the best option for restoring decayed teeth. Dr. Bickel will numb your mouth, remove the decayed material from your tooth, and replace it with a filling to restore the shape and appearance of your tooth. We use composite fillings at our office. Composite materials provide superior cosmetic results when used for fillings, as they can be perfectly matched to the color of your natural teeth.
Dental crowns are typically used to repair teeth with extensive decay, to replace large, failing fillings, and to restore teeth that are cracked or damaged due to oral injuries. They are designed to look and feel just like a natural tooth, and to fit over your natural tooth once it’s been trimmed. By covering up the entire tooth all the way down to your gum line, a crown restores your smile and your bite, and prevents further damage to the underlying tooth structure.
Root Canal Therapy
Root canal therapy may be required if a broken tooth or extensive decay causes the “pulp” inside your tooth to become infected. Infected teeth will eventually die if they are not treated with root canal therapy.
In this process, Dr. Bickel will create an opening in your tooth, remove infected material from the inside, and clean and sanitize the tooth. Then, it will be filled with a rubber-like substance called “gutta-percha,” and sealed with a filling or a crown to protect it from further damage.
We offer both full and partial dentures in Redmond. Partial dentures consist of a metal and plastic base containing multiple false teeth. They clip onto your remaining healthy teeth to restore your smile, and are a great option if you are missing a few teeth, but the rest of your teeth are healthy.
Full dentures, on the other hand, are intended to replace all of your teeth. Any remaining teeth must be extracted before you can have full dentures fitted by Dr. Bickel. If most or all of your teeth are missing or damaged, dentures may be the best option for restoring your smile. Get in touch with Redmond Art of Dentistry now to see if you’re a candidate.
